Multi-Agency Drug Bust Seizes Over $1 Million in Fentanyl, Weapons Across Metro Atlanta

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. – A months-long drug trafficking investigation led by state and federal authorities has resulted in the seizure of more than $1 million worth of illegal drugs and the arrest of 10 people across the metro Atlanta area, according to officials.

Investigators with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force, working in coordination with the Federal Bureau of Investigation Atlanta and Cartersville offices, executed multiple search warrants as part of the operation. The searches uncovered large quantities of narcotics, firearms, and cash tied to a fentanyl distribution network operating in several Georgia counties.

Authorities said approximately 8.2 kilograms of fentanyl were seized, along with smaller amounts of heroin and cocaine and more than 10,000 pills. Investigators also recovered 71 firearms, a live hand grenade, and roughly $250,000 in cash. Officials estimate the total street value of the drugs seized exceeds $1 million.

The investigation focused on a trafficking network supplying fentanyl to multiple counties, including Paulding County, Cobb County, Douglas County, Carroll County, and Haralson County. Ten individuals were taken into custody and charged in connection with the case. Specific charges were not detailed in the release.

Task Force Commander Daniel Nicholson said the results highlight the impact of coordinated law enforcement efforts.

“When federal, state, and local agencies work together to combat crime in our communities, the results speak for themselves,” Nicholson said in a statement. “The hard work and dedication of the agents and officers who seek to rid their communities of this poison is truly commendable.”

The Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force is managed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and is based in Dallas. It serves Haralson, Polk, and Paulding counties and includes personnel from multiple agencies, including the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office, Tallapoosa Police Department, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Polk County Police Department, Rockmart Police Department, Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, Dallas Police Department, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
