PRESS RELEASE – Yesterday morning/afternoon (10/31/23), you may have seen multiple Deputies and Troopers with the Georgia Department of Public Safety (Georgia State Patrol) in the area of Buchanan Highway (GA 120 W) and Roses Store.

Deputies and Troopers were looking for the driver of a vehicle that caused a motor vehicle accident (MVA) at Mulberry Rock Road and Cohran Road at approximately 6:49 AM on 10/31/23.

In that MVA, multiple people were injured to include one individual who later died at the hospital. After chasing the male driver for the better part of the day, Deputies, Troopers, and US Marshals eventually captured him at a home in Temple, Georgia.

Michael Anthony Morgan, Jr. (W/M, 41 YOA) was arrested without incident and taken to the hospital for the injuries he sustained in the MVA. He was later transported to the Paulding County Jail where he’s being charged with the following offenses and held without bond.

-Homicide By Vehicle

-Hit and Run Resulting in Serious Injury or Death

-Serious Injury by Vehicle

-Driving on the Wrong Side of the Roadway

-Failure to Maintain Lane

-Driving on Suspended License

-No Proof of Insurance

-Defective Tires

-Multiple Warrants From Various Jurisdictions
